A New Years Resolution...to have fun!

Yesterday (Saturday) was the first weekend of the new year and Dustin and I had previously decided to head out west near Fredericksburg to Enchanted Rock. Luckily, some friends of ours decided to join us for the day so we all loaded up in the fun bus, AKA my minivan. For those of you who also read Dustin's blog he went into a little more detail about the day so check his post out at dustin.orrickfamily.com. We had such an awesome time (minus the allergies that kicked in about halfway through the adventure). We laughed so hard all day and took some pretty funny pics.

On the topic of New Years Resolutions...I will copy from my hubby's blog since he was kind enough to gather what we had talked about the ride home from Houston on New Years day...most of them seem pretty reasonable in my mind. I look forward to posting throughout the year as each is (hopefully) checked off the list :-)

Here they are separated into different categories:

Travel
Hike the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim
Hike one of the two tallest peaks in the US (Mt. Whitney, CA or Mt. Elbert, CO)
Backpack through Europe (France, Switzerland, Italy, ….)
Kauai, HI (if we don’t travel abroad)
Short trips:
A full Texas Hill Country Wine Tour with a group,
Washington DC (see friends & tour), NYC (see friends & tour),
Chicago (wedding & tour), North Carolina (wedding & tour)

Fitness
Dustin to complete a sprint distance Triathlon with a stretch goal of also completing a half iron man Triathlon
Dustin to increase flexibility; measure of success is reduced back pain and easily being able to touch my toes and/or beyond
EmSue to complete the 30 day Bikram Yoga Challenge with a stretch goal of completing the 60 day challenge
EmSue to run constantly for 10+ miles (I questioned her on this because she has completed a Marathon in the past, but her response was that it was a run/walk effort)

Education/Skills

Dustin to learn to weld
EmSue to read more
EmSue to learn how to drive a manual transmission car (Dustin to have patience in teaching )
Projects
Dustin to build a lower deck underneath the backyard deck
Dustin to build a rain water collection system
Dustin to start to work on the Electric Motorcycle
EmSue to complete the Wedding Album
EmSue to figure out what to do with the upstairs rotunda space
