"Pain Kills the Pain"

I am so proud of my winking pumpkin!

A carving success!

Okay I know it seems like a strange title for a blog especially with the pictures I have posted, but it will all make sense once you read this entry. So this "Pain Kills the Pain" apparently is a quote from Bikram himself...AKA a Bikramism. I would write it in sanskrit but I forgot what it is already! The teacher today in class said this to us to reassure us that even the little bits of pain we may feel now in the long run will heal us of pain we have had. Speaking of pain...it has been 7 days since I started my first class of Bikram Yoga. 5 classes later and I thought I was getting the hang of it, however, today was a hard day for me. I struggled from the beginning of class with nausea and feeling dizzy. I know it was not from being dehydrated because I have been drinking water like a camel does when it is filling up his humps ;-) I was starving too for some odd reason. Anyhow, it was not until about 30 minutes in that I began to feel more like myself and could really get into the class. What a bummer, but like I have learned from others there are good days and not so good days in class. So far after one week, I feel stronger and I can tell already that my body is toning up when I look at myself in the mirror during class. My flexibility has improved drastically from day one which is exciting as well.
After Yoga I ate like a champ and Dustin got home from his LiveSTRONG Challenge bicycle ride. It was so good to hear that he had such a great ride...and he got to see Lance a few times including the time he whipped by Dustin on his bike doing a good 35 mph!!! You can read Dustin's blog for a more detailed story of course!
Sunday afternoon Dustin and I went over to a friend's house for a pumpkin carving party which we have gone to for a few years now. I must brag and say our pumpkin carving has definitley improved and each year I take the craft more seriously ;-) I included a couple of pictures of our pumpkin carving time! We are looking forward to Halloween!!!

I'm proud of your winking pumpkin also. But it's not very scary.
