White Elephants and the Steakhouse tragedy...

Sunday evening Dustin and I went to a White Elephant Christmas Party at our friends Sean & Amy. They were so sweet and made food for everyone- ham, mac & cheese, zucchini bread, cheesecake- all homemade just to name a few! During the gift exchange- Dustin for a short while had a great Ghirardelli Chocolate basket (which was amazing), but my hips and thighs were somewhat thankful someone stole it from him and he ended up with a Hickory Farms sausage/cheese thing that I am not interested in eating. Everyone laughed at me because I was actually completely pumped about the gift I opened...my own personal label maker! Overall it was a great night with Dustin and friends...
My new label maker :-)

On to more somber news...yesterday at the new Steiner Steakhouse (where we ate last Friday) a bus boy (who had walked off the job on Saturday) came into the restaurant and shot/murdered a manager of the steakhouse at 4pm. Scary enough the suspect is still on the loose in the woods near 620. I guess I just can't grasp what would make a person turn to such violence...the search for this suspect was called off last night but has resumed today. I feel so horrible for the victim and his family. I read on the steiner ranch blog that this 30 year old manager had a fiance...that breaks my heart. I am also saddened that this happened at such a great new restaurant- times are tough right now and no restaurant needs something like this to affect business.
