Wow, what a week it has been! Lots and lots of family time which was great plus some other things topped my list of what I am thankful for...
Last weekend on Sunday my parents arrived for the week of Thanksgiving. They brought Lynzi and Jackson down with them while my sister and George planned to arrive on Wednesday night. I took my mom to work with me on Tuesday which was fun...we drove out to Dripping Springs and Fredericksburg and my mom got to do some shopping while I made my work calls. I am thankful that I have such an awesome job where I can do such a thing like that!
Wednesday was a full day of standing in the kitchen cooking with my mom. The worst part was over though in my opinion...the shopping for the groceries part. We did that on Monday night and it was insanity to say the least! Thanksgiving went off without a hitch which I am thankful for...considering that it was my family plus Dustin's parents celebrating the holiday together. It has always been something of a dream to me to think that my parents and my in-laws would get along well enough to actually agree to voluntarily celebrate a holiday together! I must say it was a blast. We had dinner at the owners club at Barton Creek resort and since there were 10 of us eating our table there was not big enough to seat everyone. Phillis was kind enough to bring her card table for us to use...but once we set it up we realized we didn't know who would be sitting at the small "kids" table. Of course Lynzi and Jackson said that it was not fair that they were forced to sit there so we decided to draw straws...I took toothpicks and broke off the ends of four of them so that whoever picked the short toothpicks would be stuck at the small table. Turned out that it was Jackson, Dustin, Phillis and my dad. Once we all sat down to eat...my dad..being my dad of course decided that the small table needed to have their own chant and not include us sitting at the regular table...I laughed so hard when I looked over and they were shouting something like "small is best, small is best...better than the rest" and they did this connecting of the arms thing while chanting. After dinner Lynzi passed out her homemade play-doh she and my mom made and each one of us had to sculpt something we were thankful for...it was quite clever actually! A few I liked included my dad's "OU #1" and my sister who made her play-doh into the shape of her bed...cause she LOVES to sleep! I chose to make mine into the shape of my wedding ring symbolizing I am thankful for my marriage to Dustin. After Dinner we played games and watched the UT football game.

Friday was also a very eventful day considering Dustin, Phillis, Nick & myself got up in the 4 o'clock hour to take advantage of Black Friday sales...I was too tired to do anything and ended up sleeping most of the morning in the car while they shopped. I am thankful that I was not shopping at Walmart in Long Island, NY, on BLACK FRIDAY as a worker was killed after being run over by shoppers. Can you believe that??? No bargain is worth that people!
After the shopping we went downtown along with my family to see Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy at the Long Center. It was so great...of course I love shows like that because the performers remind me just how incredible the human body really is! Friday evening we had all the family over...my parents, Mindy Sue, George, Lynzi Jackson, Dustin's parents, Nick, Jessica, Kameron & Ari. Along with the family, the Flinton's all came over as well as my best friend Jackie Lesch! I am thankful that she was able to be in Austin with her family for Turkey day and that she had the time to come and spend the evening at our house! She is such a dear friend and I miss her terribly...it is so hard to be away from friends that at one time you spent basically every day with in college!
After everyone left our house, I attempted to watch a movie with Jackie, but having been up for almost 24 hours...that did not go over so well as you can see from the picture Dustin took of me passed out on the chair in our living room!
Saturday was another day of shopping with the Orrick's out at the Hill Country Galleria and then that night was the AMAZINGLY nerve racking OU/OSU football game...thankfully our win must have been due to my dad dancing after every OU score to House of Pain's "Jump Around" OU was able to pull off a win and get us back up in the BCS rankings at #2! Therefore, I am thankful that OU played so great!!!
